Staying home for Easter? Here’s some egg-citing ideas for the whole family!
Have you decided to celebrate Easter at home this year? If so, you might be wondering how you can entertain the kids, especially once they’ve eaten a basketful of chocolate eggs and have what seems like limitless energy. Panic not, here we’ve compiled a list of ways you can celebrate Easter with your family without having to leave the house.
Bake Hot Cross Buns
Instead of buying hot cross buns this year, considering popping on some aprons and making them yourself – here is our favourite recipe. You can either make these the day before so they’re ready on Easter morning, or make them fresh for breakfast that day. If you’re not a big hot cross buns fan, consider baking Easter bunny cookies or cupcakes that the kids can decorate instead.
Make Easter Baskets & Other Crafts
Making Easter baskets and other Easter decorations is something the kids can enjoy on the lead up to Easter. Pick up some arts and craft materials or collect some things around the house for the kids to use (milk cartons, paper plates etc.). We recommend the classic toilet roll bunny or yarn-wrapped Easter eggs.
Go on an Easter Egg Hunt
Most people would agree, it isn’t Easter without an Easter egg hunt. Your kids can use their homemade Easter baskets while they run around the house and backyard on Easter morning. Adults tend to have just as much fun hiding the eggs as the kids do at finding them… just don’t forget where you’ve hidden them or you’ll be finding melted chocolate for weeks!
Egg & Spoon Race
We’re all guilty of eating too much on holidays, so if you’re looking to burn off some of that chocolate (and some of your kids’ energy), then challenge your family to an egg and spoon race. Find the basic rules here.
Watch an Easter Movie
Once everyone is tired from the excitement of the day, cuddle up with the kids and whatever leftover chocolate you have, and pop on an Easter movie. This is the perfect way to wrap up a beautiful Easter Sunday with your family.
